In the past year, the board members of the Proment Foundation have not been idle. Jacques and Cor in particular have been committed to knowledge exchange, networking and entering into cooperation at an international level for the benefit of Global Mental Health.
One of the results can be read in the following news item ‘Knowledge Exchange’: Global Mental Health and Psychiatry
The Proment Foundation wants to promote mentalization, through knowledge sharing and cooperation we work towards this goal. With the help of colleagues from Radboud UMC, HAN University of Applied Sciences and various mental health institutions in the region, the Proment Foundation has set up the International Mental Health Alliance (IMHA), with the aim of setting up a broad mental health knowledge exchange in a regional equal collaboration. This knowledge will be used in LAMICS countries in the field of mental health care in order to reduce the ‘mental health gap’ identified by the WHO.
Bringing people and organizations together to initiate structural knowledge and expertise sharing, offline and online. To have specialists and interns within healthcare travel to countries such as Cambodia, India, Indonesia and South Africa. And on the other hand, bringing colleagues from these so-called LAMICS to Europe to allow them to gain knowledge and experience.
The IMHA is still in its infancy and is in full development, we will keep you informed via the website. If you are curious and want to know more, you can contact us by e-mail.
The success of IMHA partly depends on having sufficient commitment, projects and participants.
To increase our awareness and to be able to communicate our vision and message briefly and powerfully worldwide, we have made the short animation film below. This can be used regionally and culturally to enthuse our target group, participants and stakeholders.
Jacques van Hoof contributed to the article “Online Cross-Cultural Dialogue: A Pilot for Transcultural Learning in Postgraduate Psychiatry Training” published on December 20, 2024.
