Training

Based on our methodology (read here), various training courses can be set up and carried out by employees of the PROMENT Foundation (for more info read here). It is important to know that the training courses are always tailor-made, aimed at the specific target group.

We work with a so-called “toolbox”, which offers the possibilities to organize the training according to your specific needs. This includes the use of sensor-motoric stimulating materials (fabric, paper, objects, etc.), the use of training actors, experts by experience, the use of media and all kinds of working methods, such as role plays and case studies.

The training courses are given by two experienced trainers with knowledge and experience in the field of personal development and mentalization. The groups are kept small, a maximum of 8 to 10 participants, so that individual attention and development are guaranteed. However, a smaller group number can also be chosen from a tailor-made perspective.

The basic training, mental resilience, consists of at least five meetings, each with its own objective and theme. The theory discussed here forms the basis for all PROMENT training, supplemented with situation-specific knowledge and skills if desired. Below is a brief overview of what the basic training entails.

Session 1

  • Getting to know each other, and the people and ideas behind the PROMENT Foundation.
  • Explaining the frameworks and preconditions.
  • Explaining resilience and mentalization.

Session 2

  • Looking back at the previous session.
  • Recognizing and naming emotions based on photos that express different emotions.
  • Becoming aware of physical reactions (heartbeat, breathing, sweating), various emotions (happy, angry, afraid, sad, disgusted) and the reaction to these (action/intention).
  • Promote social interaction between the participants using the homework assignment you have done.

Session 3

  • Getting to know the resilience-oriented working model of De Jonghe (1997).
  • Unpacking imaginary ‘travel bags’ and reflecting on the story of the past.
  • Discovering and reflecting on one’s own resilience and vulnerability.
  • Promoting social cohesion in the group.

Session 4

  • Exploring the (im)possibilities and challenges on the basis of the recent events brought along.
  • Becoming aware of physical sensations, feelings and action tendencies that are evoked.
  • Dealing with criticism, judgment, rejection and conflict.
